INTRODUCTION OF ENBE

What is ENBE?  Elements of Natural and Built Environments focuses on the unique relationships between the natural and built environments, and is a leading provider of education and research aimed at improving environmental and socio-economic sustainability. Moreover, This module aims to expose students to the two major components, which is the natural and built environments. The emphasis will be based on establishing a symbiotic relationship between the two environments. Students will be introducing to observational skills, data compilation, report preparation and presentation skills. Their learning experience and exposure extend the class walls. They will experience nature and the built environment through site visit which will enhance their understanding of the two component of this subject.

The objectives of this module are to encourage the student to create awareness of the elements of the natural and built environment. Besides, to expose the elements of the natural and built environment in their basic unit, form and function. Moreover, to show symbiotic relationship of the elements of the natural and built environment. Last but not least, to question, analyze and articulate the impact between natural and built environment.

A built environment is an area that is created by people. Built environments can be very big, like a city, or can be small, like a shop. Where you live is a built environment. Built environments include towns, homes, shops, schools, factories, transport stations and cubby houses. Buildings are needed for us to live comfortably. Without buildings we would not be sheltered against harsh weather conditions. Imagine how cold it would be during the winter if we couldn't live inside buildings. Buildings are extremely important because they allow us to live comfortably, but the construction process can damage the natural environment. Unfortunately, many forests and animal habitats have been destroyed to make room for new buildings.

Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to recognise and identify the different elements of the natural and built environment. Besides, to describe the different characteristics of the natural and built environment by exploring the basic elements such as natural topography, landscape, space, building and infrastructure. Morever, to differentiate and compare the different development of the built environment by looking at the natural topography, landscape, space, building and infrastructure. Furthermore, to analyse and evaluate the different development of the built environment by looking at the natural topography, landscape, space, building and infrastructure. Understand how to communicate ideas through observation and using different media, tools and techniques to present information of the study of natural and built environment.

n conclusion, this is a module that will let students understand all about the environment they are living in before designing anything in it. Therefore, it should be taken seriously as everything learnt from this module is essential for all the projects in the future during degree.
